10-Day Final Project
At the start of my final project, I slowed down and took the first two days to really brainstorm and plan it out. I tried my best to really start with an idea that I could see a real user embracing as a valuable tool. From that viewpoint, I was able to come up with an idea that really bloomed into a passion for me.
I created an App called PupWatch. PupWatch is a useful tool to connect dog-friendly users together into a social media-like platform. From this platform, they are able to connect with other users who are interested in Dog Playdates, and Dog Boarding for the short term. They are able to send messages and view their rates on public profile pages that connect anonymously with users via MMS. Users are even able to view happy boarding and puppy pictures on a social media type “PlayPen Wall”.
Creating a custom Google Maps Interface was a valuable learning experience as my first foray into outside API calls. It has such a wide range of options to choose from, and really integrating into an App makes the page come to life. I was pleasantly surprised with how much goes on underneath the hood on the back end to really connect properly with Google Maps.
Twilio really opened my eyes to what’s possible on the internet off-app and between individuals on and off the internet. It is essential in modern Apps to connect your users with each other and with the proper components on your Front End. Practicing and integrating a complete messaging solution breathes life into your project.
