10-Day Final Project

For my 10-day sprint capstone project, I created OneSip.  A web application that utilizes Open Brewery DB, built for craft beer enthusiasts to help simplify navigation through the ever-growing brewery industry.

All users will be able to search breweries by location or name and see an average rating of breweries, reviews and beers tagged. As well as some basic information displayed about the brewery on the brewery page.

Registered users will be able to leave reviews on breweries, add tags to breweries, comment on other users’ reviews as well as add breweries to a favorites page.

The technologies used to create OneSip are:

Python, JavaScript, HTML5/CSS3, Django REST Framework, React.js, Node.js, Bootstrap, Axios, MySQL, JSON Web Token.

Hire Me Because…

As a former Marine infantryman, I have been in countless high-stress situations that require immediate attention and problem-solving.  I am also adapt to giving orders and receiving them. I am extremely punctual, dependable, and willing to put in the extra time and work to complete the task at hand. Failure is not an option for me, when I set a goal or a task I will do everything within my power to make sure I achieve this goal or task.

Passion For Programming

One of my hobbies is playing pinball, and more recently one of the major factors of a good pinball machine is the code that goes into it. This opened my eyes to the programming world as a career.  The more I looked into it the more I fell in love with the endless amount of possibilities to incorporate programming into everyday life and hobbies.

Three Words About My Professional Qualities

Trustworthy: I believe in order for a team to work well together they need to be able to rely on you and you must be able to have strong trust in your team.

Work ethic: I have an extremely good work ethic, I put a hundred percent into every job I have.

Inquisitive: Never stop asking questions, there is always more to learn to become better at your craft.

Three Words That Describe The Best Role For Me

Learning: A role that will allow me to continue to develop new skills and build on pre-existing ones.

Teamwork: As a Marine and athlete I’ve learned the strength of a good team and being able to go through the ups and downs together.

Structure: As a veteran, I thrive in a structured work environment.

Watch My Capstone Presentation

A 10-day sprint that starts with each students’ idea. They are responsible for architecting this application, researching and learning any new languages or technologies to complete it, and build the final project. Since this is their crowning achievement during our course, instructors are very hands-off during the lifecycle of the development of their capstone.
