10-Day Final Project

According to EPA, Americans waste an average of 218 pounds of food per person, per year. The program I created for my final Fullstack Software Capstone project allows users to help eliminate food waste in their homes. The program contains a simple, easy to use, React.js pantry database entry and management system powered by the Django REST Framework that allows users to generate recipe ideas from the Spoonacular API that maximize food items they already own. It also allows the user to create an email shopping list powered by EmailJS of missing items for recipes they select giving them the ability to buy only what they need. Furthermore, every food item in your pantry has a ‘use by’ date with email reminders to help you use the food you have before it is spoiled.

Hire Me Because…

I have over 15 years of experience managing and working with a diverse group of people. I have a strong work ethic and enthusiasm for people and problem-solving.

Passion For Programming

I love the power that technology has for solving real-world problems, both big and small. I get great satisfaction from seeing the ways we can automate processes and improve lives through programming software for both industry and personal use. I thoroughly enjoy the puzzle-solving element built into the coding process, from figuring out new ideas to squashing bugs.

Three Words About My Professional Qualities

  • Thoughtful – I like to think about big problems how to solve them.
  • Cooperative – I think that we all work better when we listen to and consider the ideas of others.
  • Reliable – I am always willing to do what is necessary to help the team succeed.

Three Words That Describe The Best Role For Me

  • Teamwork – working with like-minded passionate people.
  • Mentoring – the ability to develop my skills with guidance from others.
  • Opportunity – the ability to advance within a company.

Watch My Capstone Presentation

A 10-day sprint that starts with each students’ idea. They are responsible for architecting this application, researching and learning any new languages or technologies to complete it, and build the final project. Since this is their crowning achievement during our course, instructors are very hands-off during the lifecycle of the development of their capstone.
